Meghan and Harry published the clearest images yet of their children’s faces Friday, on the same day they announced that their children would become part of their global philanthropic business.

It was a one-two punch that leaves no doubt that the children are being used as part of the couple’s myth-making on social media.

And lo!, the Ghost of Christmas Present burst forth upon Scrooge. “Are you the one who shows us subscriptions yet to be redeemed?” Scrooge asked. “Subscriptions yet to be enjoyed,” chuckled the ghost, jovially, flinging open a window onto a tableau of bustling newsroom. “Behold,” said the Ghost, “the present—royal intrigue, palace whispers, and a newsletter fed on crumbs.” Scrooge peered closer. “But they read for free…” “For now,” said the Ghost, lowering his voice. “Yet mark how the coal dwindles. In a statement on their Archewell website, the couple revealed that the organization was being rebranded as “Archewell Philanthropies.”

Accompanying the rebrand was a striking line: the charitable entity, they said, would allow “the couple and their children to expand upon their global philanthropic endeavours as a family.”

The implication that children of Archie and Lilibet’s ages—six and four—are already participants in “global philanthropy” is, to put it politely, somewhat mystifying.
