Kate Middleton, who cited the natural world as powerful force in her convalescence from cancer, just posted a beautifully shot video praising summer, friendship and joy. I’ve put the entire clip at the bottom of this post.

In a note accompanying the new video—the second in a series of four, one to mark each season—Princess Kate wrote: “It has never been more important to appreciate the value of one another, and of Mother Nature.”

Kate has said she was inspired and enthused by nature during her cancer journey. She has spoken candidly about the challenges she has faced readjusting to normal life after a grueling course of chemotherapy.

While Kate did not appear in the video, she is understood to have written the text she read in the voice over, a lyrical evocation of the childlike magic of a warm, settled British summer.

The video, which clocks in at under two minutes, does not feature images of Kate, William or her kids. Instead, it is all about summoning a halcyon, deeply traditional, dream-like sense of the glories of Albion in the sunshine, with lingering images of ripe crops, bees, flowers, children and vegetables.

The soothing images are accompanied by piano music and bird song, the sound of the waves crashing on the beach and children’s laughter.

The video has been received with near-universal rapturous praise on mainstream and social media. Some users have been quick to accuse the legacy media of having double standards, given the drubbing Meghan’s clip from her new show provoked yesterday.
