So happy for you, Tom! I read you every day and never take the time to comment, today’s news deserves comment. Thank you for your entertaining and informative journalism, and for how often you post with updates. I’m so glad you survived and went on to thrive after the attempt to cancel you.

Thanks so much for breaking the habit and commenting! Yes, it's been an incredible adventure. I'm lucky that i'm old enough at 53 to appreciate just how wonderful that most magic of things, a second chance, really is.

This is so exciting Tom! I just pre-ordered the US version and hopefully I can pick one up in London when it comes out because I love that cover the best… It says it all.

Is there another author named Tom Sykes on Amazon because I’m trying to differentiate your books from his but can’t quite figure it out. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thank you so much. Second chances are pretty rare things!

Congratulations Tom! When one door closes, a bestselling book is born.

Hope you’ve left some wiggle room to add the fallout from this week! The recoil on the double humiliation is going to be savage

Additional chapter when the paperback comes out.

Any reference in your book to Princess Margaret as a ‘spare’ Tom?

BP's avatar

Yes, and I wonder whether the new succession rules will change who becomes the next generation’s “spare” - Charlotte or Louis? Or neither?

Pamela | Money, Mindset & Life's avatar

These spares are full of drama, that's for sure.

Congratulations Tom! How exciting! You'll have to add Australia to the destination list for book launch events :)

Yes please Brisbane please

Melbourne too, thank you Tom!

❤️ the UK cover!

I liked the UK cover too!

Came here to say the same as Luna - cannot wait to read it! And congratulations from Minneapolis!

Congratulations! The covers for the UK and US editions could not be more different. The UK version has a fun title and the artwork is more whimsical, while the US edition looks quite serious in both title and artwork. I would like to know the reasoning behind those decisions, but I suppose it’s the publishers choice on how they wish to present it.

I posted above that I fear it's confusion with the TV show from the 1970s called "The Dukes of Hazzard." Not sure if that fear is justified.

Margery's avatar

Yeah, lot’s of people in the US remember that show, and I think calling a book about British Dukes by the same name wouldn’t work - but I agree, I love the UK cover!

Moira's avatar

It was extremely popular in the UK too. I remember my father becoming helpless with laughter at the sheriff and his dog. ‘Dumb dipstick’ became his insult of choice.

Elizabeth Rothwell's avatar

Yes! The show featured a muscle car with a Confederate flag painted on the roof, for example.

Hippo Heaven's avatar

I don't know if the name is copyrighted or the publishers fear that Americans can't tell the difference between the TV show and Tom's book?

A shame if it's the latter.

Elizabeth Rothwell's avatar

Oh I think in the US it’s simply an odd sales pitch, less so for UK.

Joan Berg's avatar

I'm with you... this American loves the Brit cover. Are we considered humorless? Won't get the references? I think we who are the US audience would love it, but maybe it's the copyright and other "rights" holders that have the power in this.

Congratulations, Tom!

My first comment! I've been quietly cheering you on, Tom, in your thoughtful reporting. By far the best of the royal commentators...a very entertaining combination of cheeky and substantive. With a little Eton street cred thrown in. Tina B should be very proud.

CONGRATULATIONS, Tom!! WELL DONE and Well DESERVED!! You took Adversity and used it as FUEL to achieve Goals you hadn’t even imagined yet! The Draconian Price they tried to extract from you for Speaking Truth to Power has only Empowered you. It was a Petty Tyranny unworthy of true “Royalty”.

Luna Spain's avatar

Congratulations, Tom!! I can’t wait to read :)

Wonderful news, I can’t wait to read your book, Tom! As I’m a well-connected German journalist specialising in European royal content, how could I get in touch with you to yo talk about opportunities to do some book-related PR in German media like magazines stern, Gala (including their online outlets) and RTL TV for it - if you are interested? Best, Catrin

Tom , are there plans for this to go to Audible ?

Joan Berg's avatar

These days, a lot of my reading is on Audible. My poor eyes appreciate listening. It IS reading, and when well narrated, a total delight.

Sohabiti's avatar

I hope Tom will read it. I like his voice

I purchased Lady C’s book on Harry and Meghan but had to return the book to Audible because I struggled to listen to her voice.

Joy J's avatar

I’ve found playing with the playback speed can sometimes make a voice quite a lot better.

Margery's avatar

Tom should definitely read it!

Joan Berg's avatar

I always listen to a sample of a narrated book. It can make such a difference! Lucy Worsley is narrating her new book, I'm looking forward to that one too.

Hippo Heaven's avatar

She has a lovely voice, but her accent is a bit difficult to understand.

Tina Dahl's avatar

I literally cannot wait to get my eyes on this book, pre-ordering today! 🇺🇸

Great title. I can’t wait to read it!!!
